Enterprise Volume Management Services System Test

Introduction

This document summarizes the EVMS System test results of the IBM Linux Technology Center Test Team. It includes the test approach, unresolved issues, environment, test cases, and observations. It identifies areas where additional testing would be useful.

Test approach

Focus tests will be run on UP and 2-way systems. Integration and stress tests will be run on 4 and 8-way systems. Compatibility tests (part of the Focus Test Execution Plan)  will be run on UP (OS/2) and RS/6000 (AIX) systems.

Exit criteria

- All defects found during the test cycle have been opened in LTC Bugzilla 
- All blocking and critical defects have been addressed 
- All planned tests have been executed 
- Verification Summary Report available 
- Overall 90% successful test execution has occurred 

Unresolved issues

This is an ongoing test effort and, as such, there are no unresolved issues lingering after test execution has completed (since test execution has not completed).

Areas for further testing

Areas identified in the EVMS System testplan that eventually are not covered by the point of exit will be covered after test has exited.

Test environment

Distributions

Initial test efforts focused on commercially available distributions. The LTC is continually evaluating its' test environment and may add additional distributions in the future. The distributions and releases for the test effort were as follows:

  • SuSE 7.3
  • TurboLinux 7.0
